...Who is Eligible?

There are two different grant programs described in the stimulus bill. The grants are for universities that wish to:

• Carry out a demonstration project to develop academic curricula integrating certified EHR technology in the clinical education of health professionals (section 3015), or;
• Establish or expand medical health informatics education programs (section 3016)...

Grant of the Week: NEA Foundation

Learning & Leadership Grants are available to individuals and groups in public education for "professional development" that improves "practice, curriculum, and student achievement" (http://www.neafoundation.org).

The NEA Foundation's vision is "a great public education for every student." Towards these ends, L&L grants "support public school teachers, public education support professionals, and/or faculty and staff in public institutions of higher education."

Grants for individuals are given to "fund participation in high-quality professional development experiences, such as summer institutions or action research." The amount of this grant is $2,000.

Grant to groups "fund collegial study, including study groups, action research, lesson study, or mentoring experiences for faculty or staff new to an assignment." These grants are $5,000.

Applications may be submitted at any time, but are reviewed only three times per year.
The next review for selection is June 6, 2008. Recipients will be notified by September 15, 2008.

Grant of the Week: HP Technology for Teaching

The HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative supports "the innovative use of mobile technology in K-16 education."

According to their website, "In 2008, HP will award nearly $7 million in cash and equipment to K-12 schools in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and to colleges and universities throughout North America (Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S.)."

Deadline for submitting proposals: Thursday February 14, 2008, 5 p.m. (Pacific time)
