Grant of the Week: Queer Youth Fund

The Liberty Hill Foundation is accepting letters of intent now through October 7, 2008, for their annual Queer Youth Fund grants.

"Up to four $100,000 grants will be made to different 501(c)3 organizations (or groups with fiscal sponsors) with specific work that matches the guidelines. The $100,000 grants are payable over three to five years."

These grants are made "to grassroots, local, state or national nonprofit organizations located anywhere in the United States working to improve the quality of life among gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (GLBTQQ) youth."

"The Queer Youth Fund awards grants to innovative and effective leadership development programs or organizing projects that empower GLBTQQ youth to improve societal conditions affecting GLBTQQ youth and that make a long-term difference to their movement."

Grant of the Week: Tommy Hilfiger Corporate Foundation

Grants for Youth Educational and Cultural Programs should:

"* Target K-12 and college students
* Expose students to career opportunities
* Develop skills in new technologies
* Leverage teacher/administrator, parental, and community involvement
* Include hands-on program activities
* Lead to comprehensive, systemic change on a regional and/or national basis
* Involve collaborative partnerships

Grant of the Week: Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation

"Through its National Grant program, MEAF provides funding to nonprofit organizations that are working toward the full inclusion of young people with disabilities in society. Proposed projects should be national in scope and impact or model projects that can be replicated at multiple sites" (http://www.meaf.org/grants.php).

"Funding is available for both project costs and operating support, and is open to both disability-specific organizations and those that serve the general population.

"While requests from all parts of the US will be considered, priority will be given to communities where Mitsubishi Electric US companies are located.

"Preference is given to organizations and projects that reflect collaboration among groups.
Preference is also given to organizations and projects that actively involve people with disabilities in program planning and implementation.

"Grants are made only to US-based nonprofit organizations that have been granted Federal income tax exemption under 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code."

Grant of the Week: Young Men at Risk

This world-wide competition "presented by Ashoka's Changemakers in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation," is aimed at "identifying the most innovative approaches to helping a generation of young people around the world fulfill their potential and become healthy, successful adults."

"...A major focus of this competition is reducing health disparities, and improving the health of disadvantaged populations."

Changemakers invites you "to participate in this unique competition by sharing your innovative approach to working with young men at risk between the ages of 15 and 25."
